Happy New Year! We hope you and your family had a great Christmas without any problems with your gas, plumbing or heating. Let’s face it, during December, as long as you had sufficient heating and hot water to keep the family happy - gas, plumbing and heating were the last things on your mind!

Now that we are over the festive period, it’s time to look at the future, and making sure your home is working like clockwork for 2017! Here are the key things we recommend you get checked to keep you and your family safe and warm this year.

Gas safety check

A thorough gas safety check is essential to ensure any gas operated appliance (such as your central heating and boiler system) within your home is working efficiently, without omitting any dangerous gasses!

If you’re a landlord, it’s a legal requirement to have a full gas safety check on each of the properties you let every 12 months.

Boiler service

An annual boiler service ensures your boiler is working as efficiently as possible, and helps to prevent breakdowns and spot potential costly hazards before it’s too late. It’s a well known fact that a well maintained boiler will last for years - keeping you and your home warm with instant hot water. All of our engineers are gas safe registered, and will take a look at the following during an annual boiler service:

  • Clean your boiler and central heating filters – expanding their lifespan by avoiding a build-up of the unwanted and unnecessary debris.

  • Check safety elements and controls – to ensure they are working and will continue to do their job.

  • Look for potential hazards – stringently checking for damage or leaks to identify hidden dangers.

  • Check gas installation pipes – to ensure clear lines of flow and secure pipework.

  • Test flu and emissions - to check for dangerous fumes which could lead to carbon monoxide poisoning.

  • Assess energy efficiency – to ensure your boiler is burning gas at an efficient rate.

  • Review ventilation – for safety of the homeowner and maintenance of the boiler.

  • Assessment of flue flow - to ensure clear lines of flow to avoid potential breakdowns or leaks.

  • Check radiators - to ensure they are working in conjunction with your boiler to heat every room required.

Gas fire service

Servicing your gas fire once every 12 months is vital, yet is often overlooked. A blocked chimney or flue is all it takes to result in your room beginning to fill with carbon monoxide, a deadly gas that has no odour, colour or taste. Our gas safe registered engineers are experts in servicing and repairing your gas fire in order to keep you warm when you need it the most!
